According to the WoW Secret Gold Guide, farming rare NPCs is one of the BIGGEST mistakes that new gold farmers make in World of Warcraft. I count myself among those who tried farm off of NPCs and I can say it is very frustrating. Many gold guides suggest searching for NPCs that only spawn every few hours and then farming them to make a ton of gold. The trick is that others will also be trying to farm that NPC as well. In addition, do you really want to wander around aimlessly waiting for the NPC to spawn again.
